The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a Human Resources Technician II for the Office of Human Resource Services – Employment and Employee Relations located in Pleasanton, CA. This is a confidential class and under general supervision, the incumbent performs a variety of clerical functions and complex technical tasks. Public contact is extensive and includes staff at all levels of the organization and general public for the purpose of providing policy and procedure information.
Assignment / Salary
The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm, 12 mo/yr. The initial salary placement range is $4,343.58 - $5,293.00/mo. (Range C400 Funding: 100% District.) Employment will begin as soon as possible.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Completion of formal or informal education and two years experience performing office work, complex technical tasks and routine administrative support work involving some aspects of personnel procedures OR any combination of experience and education which indicates possession of knowledge and abilities.
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and/or learning disabilities.
Knowledge of: policies and procedures related to Human Resources integrated computer system; modern office methods, procedures and equipment including personal computers ad related software; proper English usage, spelling, punctuation, grammar; basic mathematics; proper telephone techniques and etiquette; interpersonal relationship skills using tact, patience, courtesy and diplomacy; record keeping principles and procedures; recruitment and selection process.
Ability to: enter, modify, and retrieve data using a computer; operate related office equipment, utilize word processing, spreadsheets and other software; complete assignments within specified deadlines accurately and efficiently; communicate effectively both orally and in writing in a courteous and effective manner; perform complex and detailed technical tasks with accuracy and speed; research and compile statistical and other data in final form for surveys, reports and projects; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered during the performance of required duties; use judgment and prioritize own work; relate effectively to people of varied backgrounds; work confidentially with discretion; learn and apply specific rules, regulation and policies and procedures of the department and Human Resources integrated computer system; proofreading/verification of all document information input into computerized system; perform work with minimum supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities
Review and process personnel action requests and prepare for Board approval process;
Process personnel action requests including entering information into the human resource information system (Banner Human Resources Module), check information for all pertinent and mandated facts needed to establish new employees; assist with preparation of new hire personnel folders and file; collect and disseminate required Payroll/Personnel and benefits documents;
Accurately maintain human resources database of employee information including qualifications, position, work assignment and responsibilities, and performance information;
Assist with receptionist duties such as greeting visitors, answering inquires, screening telephone calls, and routing incoming telephone calls;
Research and prepare a variety of documents, such as statistical data, reports, letters; copy, file and maintain a variety of documents according to established procedures;
Assist with updating forms, contracts and procedure manuals, and coordinating distribution including posting on Human Resource Services website;
Provide policy and procedure information to the general public and employees on a day to day basis, including new employee orientation;
In the absence of and/or to assist HR Technician I, assist with recruitment process including preparing mailers, announcements, advertisements and employment pools;
Respond to telephone calls and visitors interested in District employment opportunities and give information regarding recruitment and employment procedures, application process, openings and screening of positions;
Process verifications of employment including preparing letters and responding to phone inquiries;
Prepare and maintain Human Resource files for retention according to established procedures;
Perform related duties as assigned.
