Microsoft 365 Project
The Outlook 365 Email Upgrade and Microsoft 365 Roll-out Projects
October 2, 2020 Update on the District-wide Email Improvement Project:
Hello,
As many of you know we are working to upgrade our MS Exchange email system to the MS 365 cloud-based service. We are making steady progress in dealing with our problematic on-premises servers and our target for completion is mid-late October. With that in mind, please be aware of the following- Use extra care reviewing email messages that may be PHISHING attempts. Criminals often pose as the help desk providing a link to login to the new system. The best indication these are malicious is the [EXTERNAL] stamp in the subject line. Please also know that ITS does not intend to send live links in messages for this project. Should you need to take action on the web, we will provide navigation (clpccd[dot]org > Click on > Click on > etc.) rather than a link.
- As designed, the upgrade will not require you to make changes to your phone, tablet or Outlook client. Outlook on the web may take on a new look, but the address should redirect to the new system. We do not anticipate requesting action on your part.
- ITS is putting together training resources for the Office 365 productivity and collaboration apps, included in the MS Campus Agreement. Initially, we will support the transition to MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MS Forms and OneDrive. Additional apps, like MS Teams, will be formally introduced 3-4 weeks after the initial apps.
Please accept my sincere thanks in your patience as we complete the project. As I've told several people throughout the District - if this were easy, we would have done it already.
Best,
Bruce Griffin
Chief Technology Officer
