How to use the Discussion Board
It is not necessary to log into the Discussion Board to read any of the posted messages. However, you will be unable to post messages, reply to messages, start new discussion threads or edit your user profile without logging in.
Logging in for the First Time
If you have a Chabot or Las Positas College GroupWise email account, you will already have a Discussion Board account. Your user ID will be the same as the one you use for your GroupWise login. The first time you log in, the password will be newuser.
After logging in for the first time you will be instructed to change the password. Once you have changed your password you will be able to post messages, create new threads, and edit your user profile.
How to Post a Message
1. Click on a topic or the Topics link in the top right corner of the page.
2. Click on a thread.
3. Type a message.
Note: you will be required to log-in in order to post the thread. Once you have typed your message and have entered your username and password, click the “Preview/Post Message” button.
4. If you are ready to post the message, click the “Post this Message” button.
Editing your User Profile
To edit your user profile, click the “Edit Profile” link on the top right of the Discussion Board screen. You will be asked to log in and you will then be allowed to set various options for your account including: preferences, adding a picture, or adding a signature to your posted messages.
