Network Services
The Network Services staff support the development and operation of our District's data communications networks. We support two networks:
- Administrative Network serves staff with assigned administrative responsibilities
- Instructional Network serves faculty and students
We provide the following network services for both the administrative and instructional networks:
- user data storage
- email system
- technical standards for network implementation and server configurations
- network design, planning, and consultation to District staff and the architect
- installation, management, maintenance and repair of network backbone electronics
- allocation and management of network (internet) addresses
- technical management of the routing of network traffic and performance monitoring
- management of network and network security
- wide-area network links between District sites
- access from the networks to the internet
The District supports a variety of services for the network and for the district-wide tools provided on an enterprise level. The District maintains many different types of servers dependent on the category of application services provided. Operating systems are also diverse and include Novell, AIX, Linux, and Windows.
